My heart has been heavy for Ethiopia recently. We will keep praying until the time is right to start our paperwork for the adoption. I have another little guy kicking me all the time that doesn't let me forget that we have some things to pray through first. But when the time comes, I can't wait! I visited my friend Lindsay and her foster baby (soon to be adopted baby and in our minds....she is part of the family) and it was so neat to see how God can allow a child to become so much a part of a family. He has adopted us into his kingdom. Adopted us as children of his. When we adopt in this world, we allow ourselves to join in that miracle of allowing an orphan, someone lost and cast out to be a part of something great.
* * * Defend the poor and fatherless: do justice to the afflicted and needy. Psalm 82:3
* * * The LORD preserveth the strangers; he relieveth the fatherless... Psalm 146:9
* * * I delivered the poor that cried, and the fatherless, and him that had none to help him. I was eyes to the blind, and feet was I to the lame... Job 29:12,15
Okay, on another note...
Our weekend was not a laid back one.
Lots of fun at the lake. Several cookouts. Really good stuff.
Right now we only have one car. Our sweet friend Shara was letting us borrow their families' extra truck while her hubby was away. He has returned, so we are back to a one car family. (I feel so blessed that the Lord provided that car, it was helpful to our marriage :)
Speaking of marriage....in December we will have been married 5 years. In those 5 years we have spent about 2 of them together. He has done three short deployments and one VERY LONG one. This (by this, I mean right now, this moment in time) is by far the most we have been together. All five years, he has gone into work about 5am and returned home around 7pm or later. Right now he is going to work around 9am and getting home around 3 or 4pm. It is AWESOME. I LOVE having him around. I LOVE SHARING LIFE IN PERSON....not just over the phone. I LOVE knowing what it looks like to have a semi-normal ife. But it also takes some adjusting.
What are our common interests? In the past we only had time for dinners, walks, food, etc. What else do we both like to do? We are figuring those things out now. It's interesting. I am learning lots of differences between us.

For example...our ideas of fun differ.
He is the kind of person that will go all out or do nothing at all.
Working out:
my idea of fun: a good, hard, heart rate pumping cardio workout (running, spin class, triathlon)
my idea of fun: a good, hard, heart rate pumping cardio workout (running, spin class, triathlon)
his idea of fun: something adventurous such as mountain biking, mountain climbing, adventure races, canoeing down rapids, etc
On the Lake...
my idea of fun: Relaxing with friends, a little swimming, possible tubing, hanging out and reading
his idea of fun: Driving very fast, rope swings, tube wars, slolom skiing, wakeboarding two at a time.
Hiking:
my idea of fun: leisurely walking up a mountain, stopping for snacks, taking dogs to run around
my idea of fun: leisurely walking up a mountain, stopping for snacks, taking dogs to run around
his idea of fun: backpacking into the wilderness for a weekend adventure (and nothing less)
Fireworks:
my idea of fun: watching them from far away, running with sparklers, the little poppers
my idea of fun: watching them from far away, running with sparklers, the little poppers
his idea of fun: blowing up firecrackers as close as possible to humans, shooting bottle rockets at people, unpredictable shooting fireworks :)
Future Plans:
my idea of fun: a lakehouse with a fun boat to share with our kids and grandkids
his idea of fun: selling everything and moving to a sailboat or an RV.
All that to say: I married a terrific, adventurous man. I will never be bored. I'm here to calm him down. Bring him some relaxation. We are working now to find our balance between crazy and chill.
Spending my day editing pictures and fighting with Photoshop Elements. I keep putting off editing because I do not understand a lot of the fun stuff it can do. I vow to do it today. My poor friend Catherine is going to have her baby before I give her maternity proof back :)
HAPPY MONDAY!
